Every October, people show support for all affected by breast cancer. SLP will be recognizing employees who battled or are battling breast cancer. Today we are celebrating one of our very own, Mrs. Patricia Montgomery. #breastcancerawareness

Attendance Matters! Students who attend school regularly have increased reading and math skills! We have set a school goal of 95% attendance each day/month. Our September attendance percentage was 94.57. We fell short of our goal this month but look forward to trying again in October. The following homerooms met or exceeded the September goal: Mrs. Fontenot, Ms. Cade, Mrs. Devillier, and Ms. Tobi. These classes will get a special treat this week! Individual students who have a 95% attendance at the end of the first quarter will be "treated" also! Everyday counts!

LOCKDOWN Practice drill: Palmetto Elementary School conducted a practice Lockdown Drill this morning. We will continue to do this periodically throughout each school year. This type of drill secures the school building and safely shelters all students, staff and visitors inside the building. The purpose of this drill is to keep the students safe from any danger outside or inside the building. During a lockdown drill all doors to the school building are locked and remain locked until the danger outside or inside the building is removed. Our teachers and students did an excellent job! A special THANKS to St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office for helping us keep our babies safe!
